List of Bundeswehr ammunition
The term German model designation , DM for short , stands for a German model introduced into the Bundeswehr . The term primarily relates to ammunition and explosives . Ammunition from NATO alliance partners is also given a DM designation if it is used in the Bundeswehr and is possibly identical to German products.
The model identification provides information about the condition and the performance feature. There is also the designation DT for German Troop Trial Model and DE for German Development Model .
Numbering scheme
The first numbers indicate the serial number of the model. The last number is the "Ammunition Type Code". Material and shape changes are designated with the designation "A1" (version 1) and then consecutively. Until 1996 the ending "B1" stood for a material change.
The identification number of the ammunition type is only found for projectiles, rockets, cartridges, mines, bombs, grenades and warheads:
- Blast, splinters,
- Shaped charge ,
- Armor piercing ,
- Fire ,
- Fog, color smoke,
- Luminous ,
- Observation,
- Exercise ,
- Other,
- Drill ammunition .
In the case of pyrotechnic projectiles, the number indicates the color:
- green,
- orange,
- red,
- violet,
- White,
- yellow,
- various,
- other ammunition.
The ignition codes describe the type of ignition:
- Impact detonators , impact detonators,
- Time fuse ,
- Double fuse,
- Proximity fuse ,
- Touch fuse,
- Pressure igniter,
- Draft fuse,
- Practice fuse,
- Others.
In the case of explosives, the key figure describes the form:
- Explosive devices not malleable,
- Explosive devices malleable,
- Explosive device plate-shaped,
- Explosive charges prefabricated from explosive devices.
The additional ammunition exchange code consists of two letters and a two-digit number (for example "AA56" or "AB62"). This code combines several supply numbers, with the same code the ammunition can be exchanged. The code can be added to the 13-digit supply number.
