The Diegterbach is a river in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland . It is an almost twelve kilometer long, southern and left tributary of the Ergolz .

The Diegterbach rises above Eptingen near the border with the canton of Solothurn . Its source is around 200 meters as the crow flies below the Challhöchi
It flows through the villages of Eptingen, Diegten , Tenniken and Zunzgen and finally flows into Sissach at an altitude of 359 m above sea level. M. from the left into the Ergolz.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Diegterbach is 30.83 km² and consists of 42.5% forest land , 48.5% agricultural area , 8.8% settlement area and 0.2% water area.
The mean height of the catchment area is 620 m above sea level. M. , the minimum height is 359 m above sea level. M. and the maximum height at 1118 m above sea level. M.
Its catchment area borders in the west on the Ergolz tributaries Frenke and Talbächli , in the east on the Homburgerbach , also an Ergol tributary, and in the south on the Aare tributary Dorfbach and the Dünner tributaries Rickenbach , Cholersbach and Augstbach .

fauna
The Diegterbach is rich in brown trout and bullheads . Alet also occurs occasionally .
On August 30, 2017, a fish death occurred in Diegten in which dead fish were discovered over a distance of around 800 meters.

The three last bridges before the estuary are the Wachtbrücke , the Eidgenossenbrücke and the Schliffy Bridge .
