Dieter Bub (born October 22, 1938 in Neuwarp , Pomerania ) is a German journalist .

Life

Dieter Bub came to Halle an der Saale when he was one year old . He grew up as Dieter Müller with his grandparents. His mother was an opera singer with engagements in Gablonz and Thorn. In 1956, after graduating from Giebichenstein-Gymnasium Thomas Müntzer, he fled via East Berlin to his mother and stepfather, who adopted him, in Schwabach .

Bub studied social sciences for six semesters at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . He did an internship at Nürnberger Nachrichten . As an editor he worked for the Nassauer Boten (Limburg / Lahn) and the Neue Presse (Hanover), among others . As a reporter and author he worked for the NDR Hannover (feature for church and society, youth radio, contributions to the division of Germany).

At the broadcaster NDR Hamburg he was responsible for the Umschau in the evening format and reporting on opera and theater. As a correspondent for the NDR in the West Berlin studio, he focused on relations within Germany . During his time at NDR he reported on operas and theaters in Hamburg and Berlin and as a cultural correspondent for ORF in Vienna. At NDR Hamburg he was editor and presenter for politics and time radio, wrote comments and for the format Auf ein Wort . He also made contributions to WDR , SWR , HR , BR , ORF and SFB .

Between 1979 and 1983 he was Stern correspondent in the GDR . He was expelled in 1983 because of the star cover story The Assassination .

In the following two years he produced TV reports on culture and history ( miniatures ) for Südwestdeutscher Rundfunk . For the Hessischer Rundfunk he moderated the show Treffpunkt Airport and delivered numerous foreign reports from all over the world. In 1986 Dieter Bub returned to NDR. He became chief reporter for the NDR's Baltic Sea Report, with a focus on Eastern Europe, Poland, Russia and the Baltic republics.

After the end of the GDR, he was editor-in-chief at MPS Filmproduktion GmbH until 2000 and then editor-in-chief at Inmedia GmbH in Berlin until 2009. Since 2010 he has worked as a freelance writer for EVA-Merlin-Medien, produced several film documentaries (NDR, MDR, n-tv , Deutsche Welle ) and founded two internet portals.

Bub is married and has four children.
