Dietrich / Untertrifaller Architects

Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architects is a pan-European Austrian architectural office based in Bregenz and Vienna . The office also has branches in St. Gallen (Switzerland), Paris and Munich .

Foundation phase

The office was founded in 1994 by Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller and is a typical representative of the “ Vorarlberg School ”. Today it is headed by Helmut Dietrich, Much Untertrifaller, Dominik Philipp and Patrick Stremler and employs an international team of around 100 architects who work in Austria (Bregenz and Vienna), Switzerland (St. Gallen), France (Paris) and Germany ( Munich) work.

Helmut Dietrich (* 1957 in Mellau ) studied like Much Untertrifaller at the Technical University of Vienna under Professor Ernst Hiesmayr . Both belong to the second generation of the New Vorarlberger Building School . Helmut Dietrich has been leading the überholz university course at the Linz Art University since 2011 and the design workshop at the Technical University of Carinthia, Spittal and Udine since 2006. He is also an advisory board member for the communities of Bludenz, Lustenau, Mellau and Widnau. Until 2010 he was chairman of the Vorarlberg Competition Committee of the Chamber of Architects, member of the board of the Central Association of Vorarlberg Architects until 2004 and also member of the board of the Vorarlberg Architecture Institute until 2004 .

After completing his studies at the Technical University of Vienna, Much Untertrifaller (* 1959 in Bregenz ) worked with his father, Much Untertrifaller senior, and in 1992 marked the turning point in alpine construction with the Silvrettahaus on the Bielerhöhe in Partenen. He is registered as a freelance architect in the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Württemberg (since 1998), Bavaria (since 2016) and the Department of Île de France (since 2015) and as a civil engineer in the Chamber of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland (since 2014). From 2007 to 2008 and since 2016 he has been an honorary professor at the HTWG Konstanz .
