Dimitriana Surdu (born April 12, 1994 in Chișinău ) is a Moldovan shot putter who occasionally competes in a discus throw .

Athletic career

Dimitriana Surdu gained her first international experience in 2013 at the Junior European Championships in Rieti , where she was eliminated with 45.00 m in the discus qualification. In 2015 she reached the final in the discus throw at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , where she finished tenth with 49.96 m, while she was eliminated in qualification with 14.77 m in the shot put. In 2016 she took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam , but did not reach the final there with 15.50 m. She then took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but was also eliminated there with 15.25 m in theQualification . In 2017 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she did not reach the final with 16.78 m. She also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated with 17.37 m in the preliminary round. Two weeks later, she failed to qualify at the Summer Universiade in Taipei . In 2018 she reached 14th place at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 17.22 m and at the European Championships in Berlin she was eliminated with 16.87 m in the qualification, as well as at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow the following year with 17.65 m. In July she took part again in the Student World Games in Naples , where she finished fifth with 17.25 m.

From 2013 to 2019, Surdu was the Moldovan champion in outdoor shot put every year and in 2014 and from 2017 to 2019 also indoors. In the discus throw she secured the title in 2013 and 2014 as well as 2018.
