Dirac Medal (ICTP)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dirac Medal (also Dirac Prize) is awarded in honor of Paul Dirac by the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) to scientists who have made remarkable contributions to physics .

An international committee consisting of various scientists selects the winner from a list of nominated candidates. The closing date for nominations is always April 15th of the respective year. On Dirac's birthday, August 8th, the medal will then be awarded with a prize of $ 5,000.

However, the Dirac Medal is not awarded to Nobel Prize winners, Fields Medal winners, or the Wolf Prize .

There is also a Dirac Medal (IOP) from the UK Institute of Physics and the Dirac Medal (UNSW) from the University of New South Wales (Dirac Lecture).
