Discreation is a Hessian death metal band from Rodenbach , which was founded in 2001.

history

After bassist Peter Frick and guitarist Sebastian Schilling had founded the band in spring 2001, guitarist Matthias Okon, drummer Tony DeSimone and singer Martin Schulz joined them a short time later. Schulz previously worked with Okon at the Ira Tenax group. Frick and Schilling organized their first own festival called Schlachtfest in order to create their own opportunity to perform. The festival was led by Disbelief . In addition to Discreation, four other bands made their live debut there. About 300 visitors took part in the indoor festival. A little later followed appearances as opening act for Amon Amarth and Die Apokalyptischen Reiter . The band also went to the studio to record five songs for the EP The Great Curse , which was released in September 2003. Then Schulz left the band in order to be able to concentrate completely on Ira Tenax. Kai Müller-Lenz came in as a replacement. This was followed by appearances in the opening act for Holy Moses , The Crown , Agathodaimon and Belphegor . In late 2004, the band returned to the studio to record their debut album Order to Advance , which was released in February 2005. The re-release of the sound carrier on Musicaz Records took place in September 2006, with distribution in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . As a bonus, the album came with a remastered version of The Great Curse . Over the next four years the line-up of the band changed several times. The band also continued to perform, including together with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter in Munich . The next album was released at the end of June 2010 under the name Withstand Temptation via SAOL / H'Art. In addition to Frick, Schilling and Müller-Lenz, the band consisted of guitarist David Hübsch and drummer Michael Winter. In 2011, Plague and Fire followed as a download EP , which was mixed and mastered by Jörg Uken ( God Dethroned , Dew-Scented ). In the same year the band also played concerts, among others together with Voice of Revenge and Damnation Defaced , all over Germany. The third album was released in October 2013 via Remission Records , The Silence of the Gods , which was again produced by Uken. In 2014 the band also played concerts, among others together with Revel in Flesh and Lay Down Rotten in Mainz . In 2015, Procreation of the Wretched was released , which was produced by Thilo Krieger in the Desert Inn Studio in Herborn . The group had meanwhile switched from Remission Records to FDA Rekotz . A new band logo has also been used since this release, which is a modification of the very first band logo.

style

Jan Fleckhaus from Metal Hammer stated in his review of Withstand Temptation that the band plays Swedish old-school death metal, as one has wanted from Entombed and Grave for years . Discreation doesn't just copy its role models, it also incorporates its own ideas. The music is mostly aggressive, although there are occasional melodic inserts. Patrick Schmidt from Rock Hard stated that the band not only plays Death Metal in the Swedish style, but also combines styles from different regions on Procreation of the Wretched . In an interview with Schmidt, Peter Frick stated that if the members had to name a band that everyone liked equally, it would be Bolt Thrower . In general, however, the musical interests are broadly based. The band only noticed later that the album title had a name similar to a song by Celtic Frost . However, the group is also an influence on discreation. Schmidt stated that the group can be named in the same breath as other German groups such as Deserted Fear , Chapel of Disease , Weak Aside and Sulfur Aeon . According to Frick, the lyrics of Procreation of the Wretched treat "both cosmic themes of the total destruction of our planet and very concrete, almost political texts such as the title song, which deals with the failings of humanity, religion and false promises". In the same issue, Schmidt also reviewed the album and described the music as powerful and variable death metal. The groove and vocals are reminiscent of Gorefest's album False . The song Megacorpse sounds like Celtic Frost.
