The Chincha Baja district is located in the Chincha Province in the Ica region in southwest Peru . The district has an area of 73.2 km². At the 2017 census, there were 13,787 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 11,321, in 2007 12,195. The district administration is located in the 41 m high town of Chincha Baja with 4867 inhabitants (as of 2017). Chincha Baja is located 5.5 km southwest of the provincial capital Chincha Alta .
Geographical location
The Chincha Baja District is located in the west of the Chincha Province. The rivers Río Chico and Río Matagente, the two mouths of the Río San Juan , cross the district in a westerly direction. The Chincha Baja district stretches in the southwest to the Pacific coast .
The Chincha Baja district is bordered by the Tambo de Mora district to the southwest , the Sunampe , Chincha Alta and Alto Larán districts to the north , and the El Carmen district to the southeast and south .
