The district of Huanuara is located in the province of Candarave in the region of Tacna in southwestern Peru . The district was established on January 5, 1945. It has an area of 90.9 km². The 2017 census counted 536 residents. In 1993 the population was 814, in 2007 it was 823. The district administration is located in the 3250 m high town of Huanuara with 497 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huanuara is about 9 km southwest of the provincial capital Candarave .
Geographical location
The district of Huanuara is located on the southern flank of the Cordillera Volcánica in the southwest of the Candarave province.
The district of Huanuara borders in the southwest with the district Ilabaya ( province Jorge Basadre ), in the northwest with the district Cairani , in the northeast with the district Candarave , in the southeast with the district Quilahuani and in the south with the district Curibaya .
