The La Esperanza district is located in the Trujillo Province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The district was established on January 29, 1965. The 15.55 km² district had 189,206 inhabitants in the 2017 census. In 1993 the population was 105,361, in 2007 151,845. The district is congruent with the 77  m high north-western suburb of the regional capital Trujillo La Esperanza . The district is divided into ten sectors: Central, Santa Verónica, Jerusalén, Pueblo Libre, San Martín, Fraternidad, Indoamérica, Wichanzao, Manuel Arévalo II and III and Parque Industrial.

Geographical location

The district of La Esperanza is located in the coastal plain of northwestern Peru. It borders in the southeast on the districts Florencia de Mora and Trujillo , in the west and north on the district Huanchaco and in the east on the district El Porvenir .
