The Trujillo District is located in the Trujillo Province in the La Libertad region of western Peru . The district was established on January 31, 1822. The 39.36 km² district had 314,939 inhabitants at the 2017 census. In 1993 the population was 247,028, in 2007 294,899. The district is almost congruent with the regional capital Trujillo .
Geographical location
The Trujillo district is located in the coastal plain in northwestern Peru. It reaches up to two kilometers from the Pacific coast . It has a maximum longitudinal extension in WNW-ESE direction of about 9.4 km. The Río Moche flows along the southeastern border of the district . In the southwest the Trujillo district borders on the Víctor Larco Herrera district , in the west on the Huanchaco district , in the northwest on the La Esperanza district , in the north on the Florencia de Mora district , in the northeast on the El Porvenir district , in the east on the district Laredo and in the southeast to the Moche district .
