The district of Paucarbamba is located in the province of Churcampa in the region of Huancavelica in the southwest of central Peru . The district emerged in the founding years of the Republic of Peru. It has an area of 103 km². The 2017 census counted 4678 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5175, in 2007 it was 6646. The seat of the district administration is the 3370 m high village of Paucarbamba with 828 inhabitants. Paucarbamba is located 26 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Churcampa .
Geographical location
The Paucarbamba district is centrally located in the Churcampa province on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The district is centrally located in the southern bend of the Río Mantaro . The area is almost completely drained via the Quebrada Choinchihuasi to the northeast to the Río Mantaro.
The Paucarbamba district borders on the El Carmen district in the south, the Anco district in the southwest, the Cosme district in the far west, the Chinchihuasi district in the northwest, the Pachamarca district in the northeast, and the San Pedro de Coris district in the east and in the southeast to the Churcampa district .
