The province of Churcampa is one of seven provinces in the Huancavelica region in southwestern Peru . The province has an area of ​​1232 km². At the 2017 census, 34,549 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 44,488, in 2007 44,903. The provincial administration is located in the small town of Churcampa .

Geographical location

The province of Churcampa is located about 280 km east-southeast of the state capital Lima . It is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera and has a longitudinal extension in the NNW-SSE direction of about 60 km. The Río Mantaro flows around the province, forming its southwest, southern, eastern and northeastern borders.

The province of Churcampa borders in the northwest on the province Tayacaja , in the east on the province Huanta ( region Ayacucho ) and in the southwest on the province Acobamba and in the west on the province Huancavelica .

Administrative division

The province of Churcampa is divided into eleven districts (distritos) . The district of Churcampa is the seat of the provincial administration.
