The Churcampa District is located in the Churcampa Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district emerged in the founding years of the Republic of Peru. It has an area of ​​134 km². The 2017 census counted 5403 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6383, in 2007 it was 5960. The seat of the district and provincial administration is the 3262  m high town of Churcampa with 3410 inhabitants. Churcampa is located 64 km east of the regional capital Huancavelica .

Geographical location

The Churcampaa district is located in the central southeast of the Churcampa province on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The Río Mantaro flows north along the eastern district boundary.

The district of Churcampa borders in the southeast with the district La Merced , in the south with the district San Miguel de Mayocc , in the west with the district Locroja , in the northwest with the districts El Carmen and Paucarbamba , in the north with the district San Pedro de Coris and in East to the Santillana District ( Huanta Province ).
