The district of San Pedro de Coris is located in the province of Churcampa in the region of Huancavelica in the southwest of central Peru . The district was established on May 10, 1955. It has an area of 137 km². The 2017 census counted 3573 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 8061, in 2007 it was 4244. The seat of the district administration is the 3580 m high village of San Pedro de Coris with 1488 inhabitants. San Pedro de Coris is located 18 km north of the provincial capital Churcampa . Mina Cobriza, operated by the Doe Run Company , is expanding.
Geographical location
The district of San Pedro de Coris is located in the central east of the province of Churcampa on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The district is located on the west bank of the north-flowing Río Mantaro .
The district of San Pedro de Coris is bordered by the district of Churcampa to the south and southwest , the district of Paucarbamba to the west, the district of Pachamarca to the northwest and the districts of Ayahuanco and Santillana (both in the province of Huanta ) to the east .
