The Pachamarca district is located in the Churcampa province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on April 23, 1965. It has an area of ​​157 km². The 2017 census counted 1972 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3358, in 2007 it was 3005. The seat of the district administration is the 2730  m high village of Pachamarca with 213 inhabitants. Pachamarca is located 29 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Churcampa .

Geographical location

The Pachamarca district is located in the north-east of the Churcampa province on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The lengthwise extension in north-south direction is 15 km, the width 14.5 km. The Río Mantaro flows around the district to the east and north.

The Pacha Marca district is bordered to the southeast by the district of San Pedro de Coris , in the southwest of the district Paucarbamba , in the northwest on the district Chinchihuasi and to the north and to the east by the districts Pucacolpa and Ayahuanco ( province of Huanta ).
