The Pucacolpa district is located in the Huanta province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district was formed on April 7, 2015 from parts of the Ayahuanco district. It has an area of 716 km². The 2017 census counted 3,306 inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is 3306 m locality highly preferred Huallhua with 554 inhabitants (2017). Huallhua is just 65 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Huanta .
Geographical location
The Pucacolpa district is located in the Andean highlands in the far northwest of the Huanta Province. The Río Mantaro forms the district boundary in the southwest and northeast.
The district of Pucacolpa borders in the southwest with the districts Pachamarca and Chinchihuasi (both in the province of Churcampa ), in the northwest and in the north with the districts Andaymarca , Roble and Tintay Puncu (all three in the province of Tayacaja ), in the northeast with the district Vizcatán del Ene ( Satipo Province ), to the east to the Canayre district , to the extreme southeast to the Llochegua district and to the southeast to the Ayahuanco district .
