The Andaymarca district is located in the Tayacaja Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was formed on November 14, 2014 from parts of the Colcabamba district. It has an area of 151 km². The 2017 census counted 2529 inhabitants. The seat of the district administration is the 2950 m high village Andaymarca with 476 inhabitants (as of 2017). Andaymarca is located 27 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Pampas .
Geographical location
The Andaymarca district is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the east of the Tayacaja province. The district is located on the east bank of the north-flowing Río Mantaro .
The district Andaymarca borders in the southwest on the district Colcabamba , in the extreme northwest on the districts Daniel Hernández and Quishuar , in the north on the districts Surcubamba and Tintay Puncu , in the northeast on the district Roble , in the east on the district Pucacolpa ( province Huanta ) as well in the southeast to the Chinchihuasi district ( Churcampa province ).
