The Acraquia District is located in the Tayacaja Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on September 9, 1954. It has an area of 108 km². In the 2017 census, 3717 inhabitants were counted. In 1993 the population was 5248, in 2007 5203. The seat of the district administration is the 3287 m high village Acraquia with 948 inhabitants (as of 2017). Acraquia is located about 4 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Pampas .
Geographical location
The Acraquia district is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera, southwest-central in the Tayacaja Province. The area is drained via the Río Upamayu east to the Río Mantaro .
The Acraquia district is bordered to the west by the district Acostambo , in the northwest to the districts Pazos and Huaribamba and to the east and the south by the district Ahuaycha .
