The Llochegua district is located in the Huanta province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district was established on November 6, 1992. It has an area of 897 km². The 2017 census counted 11,915 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 11,956. The district administration is located in the small town of Sivia, 551 m high, with 3551 inhabitants (as of 2017). Sivia is located 64 km northeast of the provincial capital Huanta .
Geographical location
The Sivia district is located in the Andean highlands in the east of the Huanta province. In the east, the district is bounded by the Río Piene and Río Apurímac . The Río Chuimacota flows northeast along the northwestern district boundary.
The Sivia district borders in the southeast on the Ayna district ( La Mar province ), in the southwest on the Uchuraccay district , in the west on the Santillana district , in the north on the Llochegua district and in the east on the Pichari district ( La Convención province ).
