The district of Pueblo Nuevo ( Pueblo Nuevo Spanish for "new village") is located in the Chepén province of the La Libertad region in northwestern Peru . The district founded on April 18, 1935 has an area of ​​271.16 km². At the 2017 census, 11,629 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 8804, in 2007 12,365. The administrative seat is in the small town of Pueblo Nuevo .

Geographical location

The Pueblo Nuevo district is located in the west of the Chepén province. It extends along the Pacific coast and the adjacent coastal plain. An approximately 16 km long stretch of coast belongs to the district. The district extends about 14 km inland. An approximately 8 km wide coastal strip, which extends to a 400  m high ridge, is desert. Irrigated agriculture is practiced further inland at heights of around 70  m . The course of the Río Chamán runs through the district.

The district of Pueblo Nuevo borders in the northwest on the district of Chiclayo (in the province of Chiclayo of the Lambayeque region ). In the northeast lies the Pacanga district , in the far east the Chepén district and in the south the Guadalupe district ( Pacasmayo province ).
