Dmitri Koblow ( Russian Дмитрий Коблов , English transcription Dmitriy Koblov; born November 30, 1992 in Schymkent ) is a Kazakh hurdler who specializes in the 400-meter distance .

Athletic career

Dmitri Koblow gained his first experience in international championships at the 2009 youth world championships in Brixen , where he finished sixth in the hurdles. In 2010 he finished fourth at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi and was eliminated from the Junior World Championships in Moncton, Canada . In 2013, the student from South Kazakhstan State University took part in the Summer Universiade in Kazan and reached the semi-finals there. In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon for the first time , but was eliminated in the first round. In 2015 he reached fifth place at the Asian Championships in Wuhan and was eliminated from the semifinals of the Student World Games in Gwangju .

In 2016 Koblow qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished with 49.87 s in the first round . In 2017 he again took part in the World Student Games in Taipei and reached the semi-finals again in the obstacle course and was eliminated with the Kazakh 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run. Before that, he took fourth place in the individual competition at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar as well as place with the Kazakh relay. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where he won the silver medal with the Kazakh relay. At the end of August, at the Asian Games in Jakarta, he won the bronze medal with the mixed 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 19.52 minutes. In 2019, the Bahraini relay team was stripped of its gold medal due to doping and the silver medal was then awarded to Kazakhstan. He was also sixth in the individual competition in 50.60 seconds. The following year he was eliminated from the Asian Championships in Doha with 51.39 s in the first round.

In 2015, 2016 and 2018 Koblow became the Kazakh champion in the 400-meter hurdles. He completed a law degree at South Kazakhstan State University in Shymkent .
