According to the United States Census Bureau, Dobbs Ferry has an area of 8.2 km². 6.3 km² of this is land and 1.9 km² is water. Dobbs Ferry is located on the Hudson River near New York City , west of Interstate 87 . The US Highway 9 into a north-south direction and Broadway through the local area.
history
Dobbs Ferry was named after a ferry crossing over the Hudson River. The city was founded in 1873 with the name Greenburgh. In 1882 the city was renamed.
National Register of Historic Places
The architecture of the US Post Office Dobbs Ferry is unusually detailed for a New York post office. It was therefore included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
