John A. Wickham Junior
John Adams Wickham Jr. (born June 25, 1928 in Dobbs Ferry , New York ) is a former American general in the US Army and Chief of Staff of the Army .
biography
After attending school, he joined the US Army and graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point in 1950 . After studying economics and administration at Harvard University , which he completed with a Master of Arts ( MA Economics & Government ), he was a teacher at the US Military Academy in West Point from 1956 to 1960 . In 1967 he was also a graduate of the National War College at Fort Lesley J. McNair .
In 1982 he became General Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army . Most recently General Wickham was from July 23, 1983 to June 23, 1987 Chief of the General Staff of the Army ( US Army Chief of Staff ).
John Wickham was also involved in the Council on Foreign Relations . After his military career, he was also active in local politics and served as President of the Sun City Council in Arizona .
