John M. Keane (1999)

John M. "Jack" Keane (born February 1, 1943 in New York City ) is a former general in the United States Army .

biography

After attending school, he first studied accounting at Fordham University , graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science ( BS Accounting ). He then completed postgraduate studies in philosophy at Western Kentucky University , which he completed with a Master of Arts (MA Philosophy). He then entered the United States Army and later graduated from the United States Army War College and Command and General Staff College . Between 1998 and 1999 he was the deputy commanding officer of the United States Atlantic Command . He was then promoted to general and as such was Vice Chief of Staff of the Army until 2003 . In 2003 he retired.

After retiring from the military, he went into the private sector and has been on the board of Metropolitan Life since 2003 and of General Dynamics since 2004 . He was also President of GSI Consultin, LLC between 2004 and 2005. In 2005 he co-founded Keane Advisors, LLC and has served as its Chief Operating Officer since then. He is also a board member of the George C. Marshall - Foundation .

His role as a television commentator for Fox may have deterred President Trump from a major military strike on Iran. In March Trump awarded him the highest civil honor in the United States, the Presidential Medal of Freedom .
