James C. McConville
James Charles McConville (* 16th March 1959 in Quincy , Massachusetts ) is an American general of the US Army , which since August 9, 2019 Chief of General Staff of the Army ( Chief of Staff of the Army ) is.
Life
James Charles McConville completed an officer training at the US Military Academy in West Point and after graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) joined the US Army as a lieutenant in the infantry in 1981 . He later completed a postgraduate course in aerospace engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Master of Science (M.Sc.). After various posts as an officer and staff officer, he was, among other things, commander of the 2nd squadron of the 17th Cavalry Regiment , G3 staff officer of the 101st Airborne Division and chief administrative officer of the Vice-Chief of the General Staff of the Army. As an army aviator , he completed training on the attack helicopters Bell OH-58 , Boeing AH-64 , Boeing AH-6 and Bell AH-1 and earned the pilot's badge of the US armed forces (Master Army Aviator Badge) . In 2002 he attended as a National Security Fellow a program at the Harvard University .
During Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq war McConville was between 2004 and 2005 commander of the 1st Armored Division ( 1st Armored Division ) , the "Old Ironsides", belonging to the 4th Brigade. In the course of Operation Enduring Freedom , he was Deputy Commander and Commander of Combined Joint Task Force-101 and later Chief of Legislative Liaison and thus responsible for relations with the US Congress . In August 2011, Major General McConville, succeeding Major General John F. Campbell commander (Commanding General) of the 101st airborne / air assault division ( 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) ) and remained in that post until June 2014, after Major General Gary J.
