Dolomites high trails

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dolomite High Paths are hiking trails in the Italian Dolomites .

There are a total of ten high-altitude trails in the Dolomites (Italian: Alte Vie delle Dolomiti ) on which you can cross the Dolomites in one to three weeks.

All ten long-distance hiking trails are marked with a lying triangle. The Dolomites high-altitude trails No. 1 to 6 were created in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1976 the particularly demanding Dolomite High Path No. 7 was added and in the 1980s the Dolomite High Path No. 8, 9 and 10, which also include the western Dolomites.

From the 1950s onwards, parts of these high-altitude trails were connected by military climbing to the Friedensweg , which crosses the South Tyrolean Dolomites from about Sesto to the Stilfser Joch . It follows the fortification and supply routes of the Dolomite Front (1915-1917) from the time of the First World War and, in addition to mountaineering purposes, aims to make the history of the conflict between South Tyrol and Italy , which was overcome with the Gruber-Degasperi Agreement, usable for a tourism peace policy .
