Dometzko (Polish Domecko , Silesian Důmecko , 1936-1945 Althaus ) is a village in Poland in the municipality Comprachtschütz in Powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location
Dometzko is located two kilometers southeast of the municipality Comprachtschütz and ten kilometers southwest of the district and voivodeship capital Opole ( Opole ).
The Prószkowski Potok and Moszczana waters flow through the village .

history
The place is first mentioned in 1532 as Dometzky . The Slavic place name roughly means little house .
In 1845 there was a brewery, a distillery and another 73 houses in the village. In the same year 545 people lived in Dometzko, two of them Protestant and seven Jewish. In 1874 the Dometzko district was founded. The first head of office was the manor owner Gerlach.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 467 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 220 for Poland. Dometzko remained with the German Empire. In 1933 there were 1,251 inhabitants. On May 19, 1936, the place was renamed Althaus . In 1939 the place had 1,332 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Domecko and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Opolski . On December 1, 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Dometzko .
