Dominik Stehle (born October 15, 1986 in Oberstdorf ) is a former German ski racer . The slalom specialist was a member of the B-team of the German Ski Association (DSV) and since 2007 the customs ski team of the Federal Customs Administration .

biography

Originally from Obermaiselstein , Stehle has been taking part in the races for the European Cup since November 2006 . He was able to score for the first time with 18th place in the Oberjoch slalom on February 16, 2007; further top 20 results followed in the next few years. He celebrated the first major success of his career on March 24, 2007, when he in Lohberg - but in the absence of Felix Neureuther - German champion was in slalom.

In January 2007 Stehle made his debut in the World Cup in Kitzbühel . In the next two years he was used a few more times in the World Cup, but was only able to finish in the top 30 once, on November 16, 2008 with a 19th place in the Slalom in Levi . On January 16, 2009 he tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee at a European Cup slalom in Oberjoch . From December 2009 he competed again, but in January 2010 he tore the same cruciate ligament again.

Since December 2010, Stehle has regularly participated in European Cup races and, less often, in World Cup races. While he initially had no further points in the World Cup, he achieved several top 10 placements in the European Cup, for the first time in January 2011 with tenth place in the slalom in Kirchberg in Tirol . In March 2012 he became German slalom champion for the second time . After winning his first World Cup points in more than six years at the slalom in Schladming on January 27, 2015 with rank 22, he qualified for the second round in six of the first seven slaloms of the season in the 2015/16 World Cup winter . He increased his best performance on January 10, 2016 at the slalom in Adelboden to 14th place and improved it to fourth place on January 26, 2016 at the night slalom in Schladming with the second-best run time in the finals, making him among the top 10 in one for the first time Could classify World Cup races.

In the 2016/17 season, 15th place in Madonna di Campiglio was his best World Cup result. In the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, he achieved another 10 placements among the top 30 in the World Cup. In March 2019 he became German slalom champion for the third time in his career.
