Dorit Litt

Dorit Litt (born September 27, 1959 in Hoyerswerda ) is a German art historian .

Live and act

Dorit Litt graduated from the University of Leipzig with a degree in cultural and art studies in 1984 . In 1989 she received her doctorate in art history at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg on the subject of "The artistic work of the landscape painter Hans Richard von Volkmann (1860–1927)". After completing her research studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle in Halle (Saale) until 1994 . During this time she was entrusted with the establishment and publication of the university's own scientific journals "Die Burg". Since then, she has also dealt intensively with the visual arts of the 20th century, especially the post-war years, in Central Germany.

For family reasons, Dorit Litt moved to Bonn in 1994 , where she works as a freelance art historian. In cooperation with various museums, universities, foundations and art associations in Halle, Bonn, Karlsruhe , Dresden , Soest , Freiburg i. Br. , Merseburg and Erfurt , she has accompanied numerous exhibition and publication projects as curator , editor of catalogs and author.

From 2001 to 2014 she was a member of the Mitteldeutscher Kulturrat Foundation, Bonn. In 2013 and 2014 she published the magazine “Kultur Report” on behalf of the foundation. Dorit Litt is married to the university professor Thomas Litt, they have two daughters.
