Dornwang is a district and a district of the municipality of Moosthenning in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

Dornwang is located about four kilometers west of Moosthenning and about three kilometers northwest of Dingolfing on the edge of the Isar valley .

Around 600 meters south of the village, within the Dornwang district, there is a field chapel with the name Mooskapelle or chapel near the Streichenröhren in the middle ground floor .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1264 when Bishop Leo von Regensburg awarded Friedrich von Dornwang a hat. At that time there was a manorial rule of the Hochstift Regensburg here. The house name "Ammerbauer" names the former "Amthof" as the center of contemporary legal and administrative organization. Dornwang formed a chairman in the Teisbach office of the Teisbach Regional Court. In the conscription year 1752 the place consisted of 26 properties.

Dornwang from the south

The baron von Axter had Hofmarksuntertanen in Dornwang, for which the patrimonial court 2nd class Dornwang, which was confirmed on July 14, 1820 and had its seat in Landshut and Oberaichbach . The court rights of Baron von Axter were withdrawn on July 8, 1823 and his rear seat was bought by the University of Landshut .

St. Florian u. St. Mauritius

In 1808 the tax district Dornwang was created and ten years later the district court municipality Dornwang. The excellent horse breeding was particularly emphasized. A major fire disaster in 1870 left the whole village to rubble and ashes. In the course of the regional reform on January 1, 1972, the municipality of Dornwang was merged with the municipality of Lengthal , which was incorporated into the municipality of Moosthenning with effect from May 1, 1978.

The former municipality, which largely corresponds to today's district of the same name in terms of spatial extent, had an area of ​​863.27 hectares . Apart from the parish village of Dornwang, it had no other districts. The village had 664 inhabitants at the May 25, 1987 census.

Attractions

  • Expositur Church of St. Martin. The Romanesque building from the 12th century with a Gothic tower was heavily modified by the Baroque in the 18th century. Two figures in the choir arch from the late Gothic period, John the Baptist and St. Martin, are significant.
  • At the Sturmhof there are the holy figures of St. Florian and St. Mauritius from around 1680, which come from the baroque altar of the parish church in Dingolfing .
