Rimbach was a municipality in the former district of Dingolfing . When the community of Mühlhausen was temporarily dissolved , its district Ottending was also temporarily part of the community of Rimbach.

The municipality of Rimbach was incorporated into the municipality of Lengthal further to the east on January 1, 1972, i.e. early in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , together with the neighboring municipality of Dornwang to the east , which in turn moved to Moosthenning with the conclusion of the regional reform on May 1, 1978 was incorporated.

The municipality of Rimbach had an area of 829.53 hectares and continues as a district within the municipality of Moosthenning. In addition to the church village of Rimbach, the hamlets of Neukreith and Dreifaltigkeitsberg (with a pilgrimage church) belonged to the community. The village Rimbach had at the time of the census of 25 May 1987 a population of 248, Neukreith one of 14 and Dreifaltigkeitsberg 8. Thus lived 270 inhabitants in the former municipality.

From an ecclesiastical point of view, Rimbach and its St. Nikolaus church belonged to the parish of Hofdorf ( Mengkofen parish ) until 2001 and since then it has been part of the Dreifaltigkeitsberg branch of the Ottering parish (Moosthenning parish ) in the dean's office in Dingolfing .

The stock lane hall at the sports field south of Wenger Straße also houses the community center of the Rimbach district.

history

Rimbach is the oldest settlement in today's Moosthenning municipality. The place name is derived from the Celtic and means "edge" or "border". The first settlement is likely to have been established around 2000 years ago. Field names such as Weingericht, Weinacker, Weinberg, Hopfenacker and Hopfengarten indicate earlier cultivation of wine and hops (around the year 1100).
