Dragoș Oprea (born April 4, 1982 in Bucharest ) is a former German - Romanian handball player . The 1.90 m tall left winger , who played for Frisch Auf Göppingen in the handball Bundesliga for thirteen years , was both a German and a Romanian national player .

Oprea began playing handball in 1996 in the youth team of TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim . In 1999 Oprea moved to the second division club Frisch Auf Göppingen and initially played with a second game right at the upper division TSV Neuhausen . In the 2001/02 season Oprea was also under contract with a second game right at the second division TV Kornwestheim . This season Oprea made his debut with Frisch Auf Göppingen in the handball Bundesliga. With Göppingen he won the EHF Cup in 2011 and 2012 . After the 2014/15 season , Oprea Frisch left Auf Göppingen. After a failed move to Dinamo Bucharest and a short guest appearance at the Württembergliga promoted TV Steinheim, he signed a contract with the German record champions THW Kiel in September 2015 until the end of the year . Oprea played with Kiel in the EHF Champions League . In December 2015 he left the THW Kiel. After Oprea was then without a club, he joined the second division TuS Ferndorf in February 2016 . After the end of the 2015/16 season , Oprea was again without a club. In December 2016, the first division club TVB 1898 Stuttgart signed him to compensate for injuries and illnesses in the remaining three games of the year. After that, Oprea ended his active playing career.

Since March 1, 2017 Oprea has been head of the German Children's Handball Academy of the German Children's Sports Academy .

Oprea completed an apprenticeship as a vehicle technician.

Oprea lives in Göppingen.

His father Vasile Oprea and his mother Gina Oprea were also handball players.
