The Drize is a 8.9 km long tributary of the Aire , which in the French department of Haute-Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes springs and in the Swiss Canton of Geneva opens.
course
The Drize rises on French territory in the municipality of Collonges-sous-Salève at the foot of the Salève mountains. It flows northwards, touches the municipality of Archamps (F), returns to Colonges and forms the national border for a short distance before it crosses completely into Swiss territory at the hamlet of Évordes in the municipality of Bardonnex (CH). It flows through the municipality of Troinex and then partially forms the border between Carouge and Lancy . The Drize flows into the Carouge area, in the greater Geneva area , overturned as a right tributary into the Aire , which itself flows into the Arve a little later .
history
The river was first mentioned in 1780, when a canal for the factories was branched off at Carouge. Around 1790 the surrounding swamps of Troinex were partially drained. From 1934 on, the brook was tamed more and more.
