Benoît Chauvet (born February 5, 1981 in Vannes ) is a French cross-country skier .

Career

Chauvet has participated in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2000 . He first appeared at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2001 in Karpacz and Szklarska Poreba . There he won bronze in the 30 km mass start race. He completed his first World Cup race in December 2001 in Cogne , which he finished classically in 72nd place over 10 km. In November 2004 in Gällivare he reached third place with the relay, his first and so far only podium in the World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2005 in Oberstdorf , he finished 50th over 15 km freestyle and 45th place in the sprint. He got his first World Cup points in January 2006 in Oberstdorf with 28th place in the 30 km pursuit race. From 2005 to 2010 he mainly participated in the Alpine Cup, in which he has won four races so far and finished the 2005/06 season in second place and in 2008/09 in third place in the overall standings. In January 2009 he reached Whistler with the 13th place in the 30 km pursuit race, his best placement in a World Cup individual race. Since 2010 he has competed in the Worldloppet series and the Euroloppet series , in which he won the Transjurassienne in 2011 and 2013 . In 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016 he won the 42 km freestyle at the Marathon de Bessans . Also in 2011 he was first in the 42 km freestyle at La Foulée Blanche . In February 2013 he won the 55 km classic technique at Gatineau Loppet . In 2013 , 2014 and 2015 he came second in the overall ranking of the Cross-Country Marathon Cup . In December 2014 he won La Sgambeda .
