Métabief is a French commune with 1,196 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .

The importance of the municipality lies mainly in tourism and especially in winter sports. Numerous holiday homes and residential complexes with holiday apartments have been built around the old town center in recent years. In the south of the municipality, a chair lift leads to the local mountain Morond , from where valley runs are possible in winter. In summer, the downhill slope is used by downhill cyclists, and hikes to the Mont d'Or are also possible here. In 1993 Métabief hosted the Mountain Bike World Championships .

Local specialities

The culinary specialties are particularly related to the cheese that is made in the local cheese dairy. The varieties Comté , Mont d'Or and Morbier and the preparations fondue and raclette are widespread .
