Montbéliardot is a French municipality with 114 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Montbéliardot is located at 812 m , 14 kilometers north-northeast of Morteau and about 15 kilometers northwest of the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , on a slope slightly to the south in the west of the Maîche plateau, east of the Dessoubre valley .
The area of the 3.80 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is taken up by the slightly undulating plateau, which averages 820 m. It consists mainly of meadow and pasture land. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. Slightly sunk into the plateau is a valley basin that topographically belongs to the catchment area of the Pissoux stream (a tributary of the Dessoubre). The erosion valley of the Pissoux, lined with limestone walls, begins to the west of the village . To the north, the municipal area extends to the adjacent ridge, which rises to a ridge flanking the Dessoubre valley. At 941 m, the highest point of Montbéliardot is reached on the wooded height of Derrière la Fontaine .
Neighboring communities of Montbéliardot are Plaimbois-du-Miroir in the north, Bonnétage in the east, Le Luhier in the south and Mont-de-Laval in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Montbéliardot belonged to the Vennes dominion. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
On January 1, 2009 there was a change in the arrondissement membership of the municipality. Previously belonging to the arrondissement of Montbéliard , all municipalities of the canton came to the arrondissement of Pontarlier.
Attractions
A 20 m high and 100 m long bridge has been leading across the dry valley near Montbéliardot since 1932, which facilitates the way to the neighboring municipality of Le Luhier (church and school).

With 114 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Montbéliardot is one of the smallest communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (140 people were still counted in 1886), a slight population growth has been recorded again since the beginning of the 1980s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Montbéliardot was a village dominated by agriculture (cattle breeding and dairy farming, some arable farming). Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located off the main thoroughfares, near a department road that leads from Maîche to Orchamps-Vennes . There are other road links with Laval-le-Prieuré and Plaimbois-du-Miroir.
