The Drnový potok , colloquially Drňák (German Drnowy-Bach , formerly Rasenbach ) is a right tributary of the Úhlava in the Czech Republic .

course

The Drnový potok rises north of Nemilkov, Velhartice municipality , in the Strážovská vrchovina ( Drosauer Uplands ). Its source is at the southwestern foot of the Háj (777 m nm). The stream flows on its upper course in a north-westerly direction past Tvrdoslav, Chrástov, V Jamách and Rajské to Úloh; it is bridged by the Horažďovice předměstí – Klatovy railway line in a loop at Nemilkov station . Its further course leads through Běšiny , where the stream turns north. Passing Husinec, Na Nove Hospodě, Na Pile, Goat, Šálený Mlýn, Hubenov, Kněžice, Cihelna, Zavadilka, Radinovy, Neznašovy, Dubový Mlýn, Černé Kravy and U Hájníků where the train crosses the stream again, the Drnový achieved brook Vrhaveč and Malá Víska. At Sobětice the brook flows into the Klatovská kotlina ( Klattau basin ) and at the same time into the urban area of Klatovy . The lower reaches of the Drnový potok leads via Luby and Mírovka into the city park ( Městské sady ) of Klatovy, the city mill moat runs parallel to the stream. Then the stream flows west past the city center. In a northwesterly direction, the Drnový potok leaves the urban area of Klatovy past the settlements U poštu and Pod Hůrkou; east of the Klatovy station it is crossed by the Železná Ruda – Plzeň railway. After 21.2 km, the Drnový potok flows northwest of Klatovy near Andělice into the Úhlava .

The Horažďovice předměstí – Klatovy railway runs from Úloh, coming from the Podolský potok valley, along the Drnový potok. The state road I / 27 / E 53 runs through the Drnový potok valley between Běšiny and Klatovy .

history

After the founding of the royal town of Klatovy, the town mill, fed by the Drnový potok and Sobětický potok, was built in the second half of the 13th century. To this end, the weir at the Luby water festival was increased. The water from the trench is channeled into the Špargl pond near Mírovka and into the Čedík and Velký rybník in the city park. The town mill moat is the oldest technical monument in the Klatovy area.

The oldest known name of the brook was Zlatý potok / Goldbach. This came from gold soap, well-known soap locations were Úloh and V Jamách on the upper reaches. In the Klattauer Chronik of Johann Florian Hammerschmidt the brook was called Pyčka . In the 19th century it was called Rasenbach . In the Franziszeischen cadastre from 1837 the name of the brook is, probably wrongly, referred to as Wasenbach . Since the second half of the 19th century, the name Rasenbach was increasingly out of use and in German-language scripts the brook was referred to as Drnowei , Dreweny-Bach or Drnowy-Bach . The poet Karel Klostermann gave the brook the poetic name Drnovka , which however could not prevail.

The Nemilkovské vodní průchody , former underground water supply from the Ostružná, exist near Nemilkov .
