Eşref Apak (born January 3, 1982 in Kalecik , Ankara Province ) is a Turkish hammer thrower .

The junior world champion from 2000 subsequently won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games after the first-placed Adrián Annus (HUN) refused a doping control in the days after the competition and was disqualified. 56 years after the third place of the triple jumper Ruhi Sarıalp , Apak was only the second Turkish athlete to win an Olympic medal.

Apak set the current Turkish record of 81.45 meters in Istanbul on June 4, 2005 , but failed shortly afterwards at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in the qualification. At the Universiade 2005 he won silver.

At the 2007 World Cup in Osaka , he finished eleventh. In 2008 he took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing and in 2012 in the Summer Games in London . In both cases he did not get beyond the rear placements.

In 2013 he was banned for doping with stanozolol for two years until June 25, 2015.
