Eberhard Encke (born October 27, 1881 in Berlin , † October 22, 1936 in Bad Nauheim ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

Eberhard Encke, the son of the sculptor Erdmann Encke , studied at the Munich Art Academy with Ludwig von Herterich and from 1905 to 1906 in the master class with Wilhelm von Rümann . From 1906 he lived and worked temporarily in Rome ; The Rome Prize of the Prussian Academy of the Arts , awarded to him in 1907, enabled him to extend this stay in the Villa Strohl-Fern until he returned to Berlin in 1908. Until 1911 he worked as a master student of the sculptor and academy professor Louis Tuaillon . He repeatedly worked with the architect Peter Behrens , who lived and worked in "Haus Erdmannshof " in the Berlin district of Steinstücke near Neubabelsberg , the former residence of Encke's father.

Eberhard Encke died in 1936 while taking a spa stay in Bad Nauheim and was buried in an honorary grave in the Wannsee Old Cemetery.
