The Ebrachtal  is a region in  Upper Bavaria that got its name from the river Ebrach . It is a characteristic hilly landscape with many streams and rivulets. Depending on the source, the Ebrachtal is six to ten kilometers long. Steinhöring is the capital of the Ebrach Valley .

geography

The district town of Ebersberg with the districts of Oberndorf , Neuhausen and Ruhensdorf, the municipality of Steinhöring together with the districts of Tulling and Hintsberg and the village of Ebrach ( Pfaffing ) are located in the Ebrachtal . Several traffic routes run through the Ebrachtal, including the federal highway 304 and the Grafing – Wasserburg railway (Filzenexpress). The Ebrachtal is mainly interesting for tourism because of its proximity to Munich and the Alps and the existing network of trails.

Geology and formation

The current shape of the Ebrach valley was created around 15,000 years ago at the end of the last glacial period . The Ebrachtal is a terminal moraine of the Isar-Inn gravel plate . Because of this, the soil in the Ebrachtal is very stony and this is the reason for the name of the Steinhöring community.

In the northwest borders the Ebersberger Forst , which is by far the largest forest area in the Munich region . Otherwise, the Ebrachtal is embedded in forests. The valley itself has only a few pieces of forest and is also used for agriculture.

Waters

The Ebrachtal is drained by the eponymous river Ebrach and its tributaries. The Ebrach in turn flows south of Wasserburg into the Attel , which in turn flows into the Inn .

There are several small lakes ( Ebersberger Weiherkette ) and wetlands in the Ebrachtal . Probably the best-known swamp area is due to its location next to the federal highway 304 at the western end of the Ebrach valley north of Oberlaufing . The construction of the bypass road through this swamp area caused numerous political controversies and damage to the construction already in the planning phase and after the opening of the road section.

Others

  • In 2009, TSV Ebersberg and TSV Steinhöring founded the youth football team JFG Ebrachtal 09 .
  • Since 1969 there have been hiking days through the Ebrachtal starting from Steinhöring.
