View into the ecopark

The ecopark is a registered trademark and designates an intermunicipal commercial and industrial park in the municipality of Emstek in the district of Cloppenburg ( Oldenburger Münsterland ). It is being developed by the ecopark association, which is based directly in the ecopark. The managing director of the Zweckverband is Johann Wimberg . Members of the association are the municipalities of Emstek and Cappeln, the city of Cloppenburg and the district of Cloppenburg.

The ecopark was officially opened on August 2, 2002 by the then Mayor of Bremen Henning Scherf and the then Lower Saxony Minister of Economics, Susanne Knorre .

It has a total area of 300 hectares. The square meter price is given at 42 euros and the trade tax multiplier is 340% below that of the surrounding metropolitan areas.

philosophy

According to its own information, the ecopark wants to enable particularly high-quality, modern work in rural areas - for example by having the company's buildings embedded in spacious green areas. The ecopark advertises this philosophy with the slogan “Experience work”. The pleasant working environment should increase the motivation of the employees and thus contribute to the success of the company. The ecopark tries to give companies an argument against the shortage of skilled workers and to help them find qualified employees. “The particular attractiveness of the ecopark suits us,” says Hendrik Ganseforth, head of the Ganseforth media production based in the ecopark. Thanks to its generous design, the ecopark also offers companies flexible, individual growth opportunities. The name ecopark illustrates this concept; it is a combined term: eco stands for economy, park for landscape park. The ecopark defines itself as a business park and, with its philosophy, differs from a classic business park.

Transport links

The ecopark has very good transport links. It is located directly on the federal highway 1 and on the federal road 72 / Europastraße 233 - and thus on the north-south axis ( A 1 / A 29 ) as well as on the east-west axis ( B 72 / Europastraße 233 / B 213 ) towards the Netherlands . The City Airport Bremen and Münster / Osnabrück airport can be reached from the ecopark by car in less than an hour. There are also various sea and inland ports in the wider vicinity of the ecopark: the c-Port on the coastal canal , the JadeWeser Port Wilhelmshaven and the ports in Oldenburg , Brake , Emden , Bremerhaven and Hamburg . Due to its location between the cities of Oldenburg , Bremen and Osnabrück as well as Hamburg and Münster , the ecopark has several nearby sales and procurement markets.

Established businesses

Around 20 companies have currently settled in the ecopark. They employ a total of more than 750 people. The largest employers are HS Fahrzeugbau GmbH, which produces waste disposal vehicles, and SEVA Energie AG, which produces combined heat and power plants. On March 11, 2008 the CEO of the Oldenburg energy supply company EWE AG , Dr. Werner Brinker , the Future Center opens in the ecopark . It is a cube-shaped building in which the energy and living of the future are presented.

In its early days, there was frequent criticism of the ecopark from citizens and politicians, as the ecopark only wanted companies from the life science sector to settle in the first construction phases. Other companies, such as handicraft businesses, would not have the opportunity to settle here, so the critics. In the meantime, however, companies from a wide variety of industries and craft businesses are represented in the ecopark.
