Edward Lebler (born May 20, 1958 in Vanderhoof , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian - Austrian ice hockey player and current coach . His sons Brian and Michael are also professional ice hockey players.

Career

Edward Lebler began his career as a hockey player with the Langley Lords, for whom he was active from 1975 to 1978 in the Canadian junior league British Columbia Hockey League . He then attended the University of Wisconsin for three years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel to his studies in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . With his university team he won the NCAA championship in 1981 . For the 1981/82 season the attacker moved to HC Salzburg from the Austrian ice hockey league . He spent the following seven years at league rivals EC KAC , with whom he was Austrian champion four times in a row in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 . From 1989 to 1992 he was on the ice for the EC VSV , with which he also won the national championship title in the 1991/92 season . The two-time Olympic participant last played for EK Zell am See in the 1992/93 season , before ending his active career at the age of 35.

In the 2009/10 season Lebler worked as an assistant coach for the Penticton Vees from the British Columbia Hockey League.

International

For Austria Lebler took the B World Championships in 1982 , 1983 , 1985 , 1986 , 1987 , 1989 and 1990 in part. He was also in his country's squad at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984 and in Calgary in 1988 .
