Karl Heinrich Eduard Marquardt , von Marquardt since 1861 (born June 29, 1801 in Soldau , † October 10, 1889 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general and inspector of the 2nd artillery inspection.

Life

Eduard was the son of the pastor in Soldau and later in Heinrichsdorf, Neidenburg district Karl Friedrich Michael Marquardt (1766–1826) and his wife Amalie, née van Düren.

Military career

Marquardt joined the West Prussian Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on February 5, 1817 and was appointed portepeef ensign on March 9, 1819 . From October 1, 1819 to September 30, 1821 he was commanded for further training at the United Artillery and Engineering School and from October 1, 1823 to November 30, 1830 worked as a teacher at the division school of the 9th Division . From February 1, 1830 to May 1, 1832 he was used as a department adjutant and in mid-March 1832 promoted to prime lieutenant.

On August 15, 1834, commanded to the main artillery workshop in Neisse, he also became leader of the 5th craft company of the 5th artillery brigade and remained there until December 31, 1836. On April 2, 1840, Marquardt was promoted to captain and company commander . On July 4, 1843, he came from the square to the Silberberg Fortress as an artillery officer , and on February 13, 1847, he was transferred to the 5th Artillery Brigade. During the March Revolution he was in Schweitnitz to fight the unrest. During the mobilization of 1850 he was from November 13, 1850 to February 28, 1851 in command of the mobile ammunition column division of the reserve artillery of the V Army Corps . Promoted to major on October 20, 1851 , on November 1, 1851, he became commander of the cavalry division of the 5th Artillery Regiment. There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 15, 1856 , and appointed inspector of the 2nd artillery inspection on February 26, 1857. In this capacity he was on May 31, 1859 Colonel and on 18 October 1861 at the coronation of King William I in the hereditary Prussian nobility collected and with the Crown, III. Class excellent. On March 17, 1863 he was given the character of major general. With the award of the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves, Marquardt was retired on October 20, 1864 , and put up for disposal on March 22, 1865 with a pension . He died on October 10, 1889 in Breslau.
