During the journey by car, Jeanine is careless for a moment when she pulls her engagement ring from her finger and looks at it intensely. So she is suddenly forced to avoid a donkey that is standing in the middle of the street and belongs to the attractive Marc von der Lohe. As a result, your car is no longer roadworthy. Even at this first meeting with Marc, it is obvious that there seems to be a deep affection between the two. Marc complies with Jeanine's request to tow her car with his tractor, and so she reaches her destination. On the drive, the sympathy between Jeanine and Marc deepens for each other.

When she arrives at her destination, however, Jeanine has to take note that her uncle himself is about to sell his half of the house. He runs a small shoemaker's workshop there and plans to process the pending orders and then close the shop so that he can only take care of his vineyard afterwards.

Jeanine, who actually only had in mind to return to Berlin as soon as possible, is thus forced to help her uncle with the processing of the orders. This is how she discovers the talent of repairing shoes that is still hidden in her. But she also comes to another realization: She learns to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside again, far away from the hectic life in the big city.

criticism

TV Spielfilm summed up: “Total predictability is one of the principles of this broadcasting slot. The rest is a casual ode to savoir-vivre, idyll, good food, cannabis cultivation for personal use (yes, yes!) And true love. The action point is for the tractor race ”. The summary of the program guide is: "Scheme F, but sunny and nicely occupied".

Rainer Tittelbach gave his appreciative judgment: "An enlightened feel-good film, superbly cast, freshly played, casual in its tone and for an entertainment film with unusually complex dialogues".

The Lexicon of International Films is of the opinion that A Summer in Alsace is "a somewhat awkwardly developed (television) film that is about calm, serenity and the ability to enjoy yourself in front of an illustrious Alsace backdrop" .
