action

Ina Brosche plays a little joke on her father: After a vacation in Mallorca , she claims that the Berlin businessman Richard Brosche has a second illegitimate daughter there. Without knowing it, she is right, because as a young man her father really cheated on his wife Claudia. He had a nice night with the tour guide Hanna, during which Antonia was conceived, who is now about the same age as Ina. For the time being, Richard keeps the secret to himself and only shares it with his childhood friend Max. However, when he was passed over for an important promotion and found his wife in the arms of a competitor, he fled to Mallorca to see Hanna, who now runs a successful country hotel there on the Balearic island. He rents in incognito and without luggage, where he immediately attracts attention due to his strange behavior. Antonia and her mother Hanna consider him a competitor's spy and want to get rid of him as quickly as possible. As luck would have it, the cook would injure himself and be absent for a short time. Due to his corpulent appearance, the hotel guests mistake him for the cook and he involuntarily takes on this role on a temporary basis. He notices that this gives him great pleasure and that it seems to be his real passion.

However, the situation becomes more and more complicated as Claudia, Ina and Max gradually arrive on Mallorca. Richard finds out that his Claudia was cheating too and that his daughter Ina is not his. Claudia, who came to beg her husband's forgiveness, is now facing the shards of her marriage. While she reveals herself to Hanna and Antonia, Richard drowns his grief in wine and finds shelter with Hanna's cook, who gives him his finca . When he informs Max of this shocking news, he has to learn that his best friend, Max, is Ina's father. With that the world collapses completely for him. He is looking for a rope and wants to hang himself. He does not think about his body and the canopy of the finca collapses under his weight. Immediately after this unsuccessful suicide attempt, “his” two daughters appear, who want to show that they stand by him, regardless of what happened before. But he rejects them. Disappointed, they turn away and Ina falls down a cliff on the way back. When he sees her unconscious in front of him, he feels how much he loves her. So in the end he gets back together with Claudia and could imagine working as a cook in Hanna's hotel in the future.

Reviews

"Romantic comedy for a middle-aged audience that relies on speed, quick-witted dialogues and the romantic Mallorcan interior."

“Plenty of entanglements, well-dosed humor and chic Mallorca pictures entertain until the end. Only the really brazen product placement is a bit annoying here. Conclusion: heart, pain and joke - well mixed "

“Sigi Rothemund's comedy, filmed in a wild and romantic Mallorcan mountain landscape, is a quick-witted plea for more tolerance in marriage and relationship life, with all kinds of surprises and sophisticated parallel plots. In the role of the lovable complainer Richard, Dieter Pfaff, alias "Kommissar Sperling", shows himself again as a gifted comedian with perfect timing and a lot of self-irony. "
