A Weimar film is a documentary film made by the DEFA studio for documentary films by Jürgen Böttcher in 1977 .
action
The path leads through a snow-covered landscape and ends in the Schillerhaus Weimar with a tour of today's museum. The next pictures are for a visit to the VEB Uhrenwerk Weimar , where young women are filmed assembling watches. Some time later, recordings from a production hall in the Weimar factory are also shown. A large part of the film sequences shown are taken up by the celebrations for the 1000th anniversary of Weimar . The men and women accompanying the procession wear clothing from the past centuries, hand out leaflets and carry pictures of some of the city's famous former residents, including Friedrich Schiller , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Johann Gottfried Herder and Franz Liszt .
But famous buildings and institutions also play a role in the film, in addition to the Schiller house, it is Goethe's house , which also serves as a museum, the Bauhaus and the German National Theater with the Goethe-Schiller monument . The Weimar City Palace , the Ilm and the Ilmpark with Goethe's garden house are part of it.
The memory of the time of the crimes during National Socialism occupies a large space . Weimar also became famous for the Buchenwald concentration camp located nearby on the Ettersberg . Many pictures are dedicated to the atrocities committed there and show the national and international visitors to today's memorial.
