Elói Róggia

Elói Róggia SAC (born September 18, 1942 in Faxinal do Soturno , Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil ) is a Brazilian Roman Catholic priest and emeritus prelate of Borba .

Life

Elói Róggia joined the order of the Pallottines , made his first profession on February 2, 1965 and then studied theology and philosophy at the seminary of the diocese of Santa Maria . He was ordained a priest on December 19, 1971 and from 1973 worked as a pastor and missionary in various parishes in the Amazon basin as well as in the training of novices in his order. From 1996 to 1998 he was Provincial Economist for the Order.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 3, 2006 as prelate of the territorial prelature Borba in the Brazilian state of Amazonas . On July 14th of the same year he received the episcopal ordination by the Archbishop of Maringá , Anuar Battisti ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Toledo , Francisco Carlos Bach , and the Bishop of Coari , Gutemberg Freire Régis CSsR .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 20, 2017.
