El mártir del calvario is a Mexican feature film from 1952 and its theme is Jesus Christ .

action

At the time of the Roman occupation, when the people were waiting for a savior, Jesus of Nazareth wanted to preach the word of God to the people and gathered the first disciples around him. He forgives sinners and preaches to people, among other things with the help of the parable of the eye of the needle , how they can get into the kingdom of God. He heals sick people such as a paralyzed man, Simon Peter's mother-in-law and the servant of the captain of Capernaum, and with the miracle of the multiplication of bread, he feeds a crowd who hears him preach.

During a visit to his mother Mary , Jesus discussed with people who consider him dangerous; the latter finally react in astonishment when they learn of the healing of the centurion's servant and Jesus heals a blind boy. The courtesan Maria Magdalena forgives her sins; she allows herself to be converted by Jesus. A little later he raises her recently deceased brother Lazarus from the dead; Here, too, Jesus' critics initially react skeptically and then astonished. While the high priests see Jesus as a troublemaker and are looking for a way to stop him, Jesus' disciple Judas Iscariot would like to see him as a champion against the Roman occupation.

On his entry into Jerusalem , Jesus, who announced his imminent death on the cross, drove the money changers out of the temple and saved an adulteress from being stoned . While Jesus tells his disciples to prepare the Last Supper , the high priests use Judas' betrayal to kill Jesus. After the Last Supper, Jesus is arrested in the garden of Gethsemane ; he is tried under governor Pontius Pilate . Jesus is condemned to death and after a long way of the cross is crucified on Golgotha . His resurrection follows three days after Jesus' death and burial .
