The Sechsmännige waterwort ( Elatine hexandra ), also stem waterwort- or Sechsstaubblättriger waterwort called, is a plant of the genus Elatine within the family of elatinaceae (Elatinaceae). He thrives in Europe in fresh water .
description
The six-male Tännel is an annual herbaceous plant . The stem is 2 to 20 centimeters long. The leaves are entire .
The flowering period extends from June to September. The flower stalk is usually 0.5 to 5, rarely up to 10 millimeters long. The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold with a double flower envelope . The chalice is in three parts. The three pink or white petals are longer than the calyx. There are six stamens .
The seeds are almost straight and have distinct longitudinal ribs.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 72 or 108.
Occurrence
The six-man Tännel occurs only in Europe. The greatest distribution density is in France , otherwise the area is fragmented into numerous individual occurrences. The southwest border is in Portugal , the northern border in southern Sweden and southern Norway at 62 ° north latitude. The eastern border lies in Silesia , Moravia and Transylvania . In Central Europe one finds it in the area of the low mountain ranges sporadically in areas with pond farms , also in the lowlands; it occurs very rarely in the pond area between Schwarznach and Regen , also in western Switzerland , at the southern foot of the Alps and in Lower Austria . But it is also relatively common in the rice-growing region of northern Italy . Since its seeds are carried away by water birds , new settlements - especially at the southern foot of the Alps, perhaps also in southern Germany - are always to be expected.
The six-man Tännel thrives on lime and, above all, nitrogen-poor soils , but it also grows on moderately alkaline mud.
It inhabits little deep places on the banks of ponds and ponds , but also goes into backwaters, less often in near-water, temporarily flooded and permanently wet bank areas. In Central Europe it is a character species of the Eleocharitetum acicularis, but also occurs in other societies of the order Cyperetalia.
